Neighbourhood Round Tables Coalition

The Neighbourhood Round Tables Coalition (La Coalition montréalaise des tables de quartier or CMTQ) is an association of 31 neighbourhood round tables that are members of the initiative for local social development on the Island of Montreal.

These round tables are made up of local stakeholders from various sectors (community groups, institutions, cultural organizations and businesses) and citizens of the neighbourhood. Depending on the concerns of their neighbourhoods, they intervene in various areas to improve the quality of life of the local population, especially families, youth and children.

The CMTQ focuses particularly on local stakeholders’ capacity for action. It has gained solid credibility throughout Montreal thanks to its interventions that not only rally its members but benefit the entire Montreal community.

Through its support, the Chagnon Foundation contributes to the development of the CMTQ and its objectives, which are to:

  • Raise awareness of the Neighbourhood Round Tables and reinforce their pivotal role in neighbourhoods
  • Measure and evaluate their actions and impact
  • Provide management and work teams with the tools they need for effective governance, citizen participation, etc.
  • Provide the CMTQ with tools for documentation, communication, etc.
  • Have a stronger voice in the public debate on social policy
  • Achieve a greater sense of coherence between local and regional interventions and social issues.
